Susan Yim serves as a patent agent in the Firm’s Dallas office specializing in patent application preparation before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Ms. Yim focuses on the electrical, telecommunication, and computing arts. She has experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications in a wide range of technologies, including fifth-generation (5G) and various wireless technologies, medical devices, medical imaging and diagnostics, cloud-based network systems, computer hardware and software, signal processing, artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous driving, and communication devices and systems. She also has experience preparing and prosecuting 5G standard essential patent applications and charting claims to third-generation partnership project (3GPP) standard features.
Ms. Yim received her Master of Engineering Science from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia in 1993, and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia in 1992.
Ms. Yim has seventeen years of industrial experience in communication systems, digital signal processing (DSP) software, and embedded processor architectures. Before becoming a patent agent, Ms. Yim was a senior member of technical staff in the systems and applications research and development center at Texas Instruments designing and developing communication system software including physical layer and protocol stack for smart grid power line, wireless WiMax/LTE, digital mobile TV and digital subscriber line, and speech and audio applications. She is a named inventor on 10 issued U.S. patents in these fields. She leverages her extensive experience in engineering and as an inventor to assist her clients in securing IP protection for their innovations.
