Biography
Zack Barnes is a technical advisor in the Houston office practicing in patent preparation and prosecution. Mr. Barnes practice includes United States and foreign patent preparation, patent prosecution, prior art research and opinions, and technology transfer. Mr. Barnes has experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, nanotechnology, materials science, mechanical, and chemical arts with individual, academic, and corporate inventors.
Mr. Barnes undergraduate degree included participation in diverse research projects including electrolyte moderation of soleus atrophy, paleo-DNA recovery, and high resolution transmission electron microscope imaging of proteins, nucleic acids, viral particles, and soft polymer films. Additionally, Mr. Barnes was employed as a certified pharmacy technician.
During graduate education in the Plant Biology department, Mr. Barnes was part of an international, interdisciplinary research initiative developing cellulosic nanomaterial applications with multiple patents and publications. His research focused primarily on nanoscale manipulation and fabrication of thermoplastic and cellulosic thin films in electron beams, and development of electronic paper utilizing cellulose-nanoparticle composites.
Mr. Barnes participated in post-graduate Chemistry research and led a wastewater technology startup to Second Place in the University of Texas Idea to Product Competition presented by the Engineering Department and Technology Entrepreneurship Society.
